Family Resource

 

Purpose

      The South Hancock Family Resource Center serves students and their families in the South Hancock area.  The Kentucky Family Resource and Youth Service Centers are recognized as the nation’s largest school-based family support initiative.  Our centers are designed to address the needs of children by developing partnerships with school, family and community in order in order to support that all public school students reach proficiency.

Mission

     The Family Resource and Youth Services Center’s program mission is to enhance students’ abilities to succeed in school by developing and sustaining partnerships that promote

  • Early Learning and successful transition into school
  • Academic achievement and well-being
  • Graduation and transition into adult life

Vision

The Kentucky Division of Family Resource and Youth Services Centers in the Cabinet for Health and Family Services shall establish the national standard of excellence in the provision of school-based family support.

What does the FRC do?

The FRC's activities, programs, and services during the year include the following:

  • Referrals for basic needs (food, clothing, utilities, etc.)
  • Physical and mental health care referrals.
  • Family nights
  • Holiday assistance
  • Academic enrichment programming
  • Referrals for other family needs (child care, health insurance, etc.)
  • After-school and summer programming referrals
  • Volunteers (Reading Buddies, Classroom Volunteers)
  • Individualized student and family support as needed.

Services, programs and activities of the center are open to all South Hancock students and their family members!
